AAT Deficiency, A Lung Disease of the Liver
Writers must think strategically and scientifically, but it also helps to think journalistically.
Copywriting is about delivering news, providing information. News stimulates thought; inspiration spurs recognition. If there is news in my content, readers pay attention.
The challenge of medical writing is in creating concepts and writing copy that are provocative and medically relevant.
What is Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency?
This genetic condition masquerades as COPD. It is an enzyme deficiency which results in the destruction of alveoli and compromises lung structure.
AAT deficiency is often misdiagnosed. Many AAT patients lose much of their lung function and must breathe with an oxygen tank before they learn what they have.
I wrote the concept below to prompt physicians to give a blood test to patients who do not respond to standard COPD treatment, to determine if they have AAT deficiency.

Please note that the concepts and copy exhibited in this website solely represent and are intended to promote my thinking and creative vision, and not the brands and manufacturers mentioned in them. Wherever a concept was published, printed, or produced, it is duly noted. Advertising creative is frequently speculative--even when it is done in a professional setting.
